Schemel to Host Series of Town Hall Meetings in District
3/6/2017
WAYNESBORO – In his ongoing effort to gain a better understanding of where constituents in the 90th Legislative District stand on a variety of issues, Rep. Paul Schemel (R-Franklin) is once again hosting a series of town hall meetings at various locations in the area during 2017.

The topic of the first town hall meeting is the public pension crisis and the possible solutions currently being debated in the General Assembly. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 16, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Hamilton Township Municipal Building, 1270 Crottlestown Road in Chambersburg.

“We have hosted a number of town hall meetings during the last two year, which were well received,” said Schemel. “These public gatherings are an effective way to engage in an open dialogue with the people who have sent me to the General Assembly to represent them. I encourage their participation in these upcoming events and look forward to the discussion.”

The topics and schedule of the other town hall meetings, which each run from 6:30-7:30 p.m., are as follows:

• Property Tax Reform/Reduction/Elimination, Thursday, May 25, Antrim Township Building, 10655 Antrim Church Road in Greencastle.
• Budget Update, Thursday, July 20, District Office, 1401 East Main St. in Waynesboro.
• Senior Issues, Thursday, Oct. 19, Quincy Village, Hess Room, 1000 Wesley Drive in Waynesboro.
• Cutting the Cost of the Legislature: A Review of Legislative Pay, Benefits, Perks and Other Expenses, Thursday, Nov. 16, South Mountain Bible Church, 11275 South Mountain Road in Fayetteville.

In addition to the town hall meetings, Schemel will host a concealed carry seminar on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club, 3725 Warm Spring Road in Chambersburg. Information will be presented on Pennsylvania’s firearms laws and the rights of gun owners.
