Fire, EMS Grants Awarded to Support First Responders
HARRISBURG – More than $175,000 in grant money awarded this week in the 90th District will support fire companies and emergency medical services as they address building projects, purchase or repair equipment, conduct training, or reduce existing debt, according to Rep. Paul Schemel (R-Franklin).
Established by the Legislature, the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All funding comes from the proceeds generated by slot machine gaming.
“This important program supports first responders without using tax dollars. Our communities are well served by the firefighters and EMTs who answer the call at all times,” Schemel said.
